Tactical Brain Training®

Stress Reduction for First Responders

Tactical Brain Training®: Mindfulness for First Responders is an educational and experiential workshop that introduces first responders to the science and practice of mindfulness. It was developed by Gina Rollo White, founder and director of Mindful Junkie Outreach and author of Tactical Brain Training: A Guide to Trauma and Stress Management for First Responders and the Professionals Who Support Them. Gina has trained only a handful of Tactical Brain Training Advocates who can lead trainings. Jen was selectively chosen.

Tactical Brain Training® for law enforcement, officers, fire fighters, health care, mental health professionals, teachers, victims advocates, corrections, paramedics/EMS/EMT, telecommunicators/dispatch, and veterans.

The four-hour event includes teaching mindfulness skills and the research behind them, mindfulness practice, and group discussion with the goals of stress management, trauma mitigation, and resilience building.

In this workshop, first responders learn:

  • The science of mindfulness: how it works to decrease stress by rewiring the brain.

  • How to identify triggers and de-escalate emotional responses to chaotic and traumatic situations.

  • Real time – on-scene - techniques for focus and concentration during emergent encounters.

  • How to reorganize the mind to respond to stimuli, rather than react based on past experiences and conditioned behaviors.

  • Experiential exercises that increase focus, attention, and self awareness (otherwise known as meditation).

  • How to create an individualized mindfulness practice you can use anywhere, anytime so you can be there for others, and for yourself.
